ARCADIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NextGate’s MatchMetrix™ EMPI product suite, one of the industry’s most flexible and affordable master data management applications, successfully passed all Patient Cross Reference Manager interoperability tests at the IHE Connectathon event in Bordeaux, France last week. As one of the few pure-play Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) software technology providers, NextGate joined over 67 companies in the health care industry’s most important interoperability event to showcase its commitment to industry standards. At the Connectathon event, the NextGate team successfully used MatchMetrix to demonstrate Patient Identifier Cross Reference (PIX) and Patient Demographic Query (PDQ) interoperability across all IHE use cases.

IHE Technical Framework Results for the NextGate MatchMetrix EMPI
This accomplishment underscores a provider’s ability to satisfy the Government’s “meaningful use” requirement to electronically exchange patient information across the community with cross enterprise user assertion. As this is a standard capability within MatchMetrix, health care organizations can be confident in their ability to invoke PIX/PDQ as a means to cross-reference patient identifiers between hospitals, care sites, Health Information Exchanges (HIE), and the like, as well as query a central patient information server and retrieve a patient’s demographic and visit information. The interoperability inherent in the solution greatly enhances the coordination of care across Health Information Exchanges and other health care communities.
NextGate’s MatchMetrix EMPI is one of the most critical technologies enabling the secure and accurate exchange of health information over the Internet. The product offering is designed to manage and leverage the overlapping and redundant data within disparate systems. It builds a master index of entities such as patients, providers, citizens, subscribers, and account holders that are not uniquely identified across all enterprise systems. It uses intelligent matching algorithms to recognize related entities spread across different applications with different local identifiers, and links them together under an Enterprise ID in a comprehensive master index. NextGate pre-configures the server with industry specific logic and standard interoperable interfaces to deliver accuracy, speed, convenience, security and real world usability and management.
Many Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and HIE users want to base their solution on industry standards. The EMPI sits at the heart of such solutions and having a standard interface lets them develop their stack in a modular fashion without having to deal with the intricacies of different EMPI vendors.
“A standards-compliant EMPI is key to reducing complexity, development time, vendor lock-in and ultimately time-to-market,” said Dan Cidon, Chief Technology Officer at NextGate. “We are very pleased to have passed the IHE interoperability tests.”
