The "NextGate Connect" Appliance for NHIN Connectivity
Arcadia, CA. August 27, 2009 – NextGate is pleased to announce the “NextGate Connect” appliance, a new hardware and software product offering that enables organizations to participate in the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) program. In partnership with Sun Microsystems, NextGate is selling a Sun Fire X2270 server that comes pre-integrated with all of the open source software identified by the NHIN CONNECT architectural guidelines, release 2.1, including: Glassfish Application Server, ESB, OpenSSO, Netbeans, MySQL and Mural MPI.
Additionally, NextGate will offer Managed Community support, in conjunction with Sun, via a WIKI and Blog space for NHIN CONNECT related inquiries. Inquiries are not limited to the NextGate Connect appliance, but open to any CONNECT issue, such as integration of the CONNECT architecture into existing environments, configuration of the Mural MPI, and guidance on CONNECT based solutions in general. NextGate can also provide commercial support and product sales for implementation activities related to the integration and deployment of CONNECT components from both Sun commercially supported open source offerings embedded in NHIN (such as Glassfish Application Server, ESB, OpenSSO, Netbeans, MySQL and Mural MPI) or other commercial vendor offerings. Such support offers direct interaction and guaranteed response and resolution from NextGate and our partners such as Sun beyond the no charge NHIN Community support offering.
“The NextGate Connect appliance simplifies and accelerates the process for organizations to connect to NHIN, and through our Support offering we deliver peace of mind for those customers who are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with open software deployments,” said Andy Aroditis, NextGate C.E.O.
The appliance offering, intended to help prospective CONNECT users get started with the CONNECT technology, includes:
· A Sun Fire X2270 server with 2 XEON E5540 processors, 12 GBytes of memory, and 1 TBytes of disk space;
· Linux or Solaris operating system with the CONNECT Gateway and adapters installed and tested internally;
· Mural MDM MPI Server configured on GlassFish ESB, and preloaded with 200,000 rows of test data, Glassfish Application Server, OpenSSO, MySQL, and Netbeans;
· NIST-XDS installed, configured, and preloaded with sample exchange documents.
NextGate will also be announcing a testing service for CONNECT in the very near future, in which NextGate will provide a remote CONNECT gateway instance to support a customer’s testing requirements. This testing service will not require that the customer be registered with NHIN, or be certified to operate on the NHIN to participate in this testing service. Support for this service from NextGate will include Gateway configuration, data configuration and test operations support, and performance testing.
