HL7 Framework

Designed for the ICAN and JavaCAPS product suites, the NextGate HL7 Framework dramatically reduces the amount of time required to implement an HL7-based integration environment. We have encapsulated our implementation experience into plug-in components, commonly used services, and designated processes. In most cases, developers can just copy and rename the pre-built objects, and assign rules from a list of options.

The HL7 Framework consists of a series of templates and standard services that simplify the creation of HL7 interfaces, facilitates message translation and routing, and incorporates useful, relevant error handling. When used in conjunction with the NextGate Event Tracker and Manager, the HL7 Framework can store any type of message for later retrieval, providing easy message resending and rich data for reports or dashboards.

HIPAA Data Parser

Even though HIPAA transaction processing has been in place for a few years, many sites are still experiencing inefficiencies. Despite the shield of validation engines, Business Rule adjustments and detailed error handling procedures, errant transactions still get through which require time consuming manual corrections. A common example is “bad claims”. Think about how much effort is needed to remedy the damage from a single bad claim getting through the validation check and loaded into the backend database?

These problems are a result of the inability to validate the trading partner specific content of a transaction, not just the Implementation Guide structural requirements. The NextGate HIPAA Data Parser examines X12 files for basic structural integrity and data content. Any site specific content requirements, such as those laid out in Business Rule agreements, will be parsed and validated against a custom rule set.

If any component of a transaction contains errors, the offending part can be removed and, if appropriate, the transaction will be re-packaged and the process continued. This means individual “bad claims” can be eliminated from a batch so you don’t have to reject the entire file! Instead, the transaction will be recalculated and sent along for standard processing. You and your trading partners will see an increase in productivity and satisfaction because of the “precision control” capabilities of content validation.
